Traveller’s Cape

VIEWPOINT

The Izu Peninsula’s west coast is full of breathtaking, overlooked viewpoints, waiting to be explored. Traveller’s Cape is located on between Toi and Odoi, two small areas on the west coast of Izu and is a must see if you are looking for somewhere away from the hustle and bustle of the city with amazing views. It’s one of the best “hidden gems” off the beaten path that Izu has to offer.

This is a beautiful viewpoint, however there isn’t really much else to Traveller’s Cape. They have however fitted a “heart-shaped” stone and it is said that anyone with a keen eye can obtain happiness by finding the stone.

There is a free car park available with space for 23 cars.

Review

Traveller’s Cape is a small viewpoint on the west coast of Izu. It features a stunning view of the small town of Toi and the Suruga Bay. I recommend visiting here during sunset as the setting sun bathes the whole area in a breathtaking glow.

There isn’t really much to do here apart from taking photos and looking for the “heart-shaped” stone. Even though there isn’t much to do, I recommend visiting if you’re nearby as the view here definitely shouldn’t be missed.

RECOMMENDED ROUTE:

Traveller’s Cape is easiest to get to by car as public transport on the West side of Izu can be quite sporadic. If you’re travelling by public transport then take the train from Mishima to Shuzenji on the Izu Hakone Tetsudo Line. Switch to the bus bound for Matsuzaki (松崎) and get off at Oyabu (おやぶ). You will need to walk from here to the viewpoint.
